summer holiday in Wellington, NZ

A little while ago – over Christmas to be exact – we took a trip to New Zealand to visit family. It was a wonderful break, and we had probably the best weather I’ve ever experienced in all my trips to NZ: warm, clear and sunny, but with the fresh breeze that only Wellington in the summer can provide.

It was the kind of summer holiday that can only be expressed in Instagram/Hipstamatic snaps. Don’t deny that you know what I mean!

These photos are what I will be gazing upon come the darkness and chill of July.

hello Spring

The other day I got locked out (briefly, because my mum came home to rescue Daisy and me!).

It was a blessing in disguise because as I walked around the neighbourhood to kill time (and to help get Miss D to sleep), I noticed how much spring had sprung. I really do love this time of year, it feels as though things are ready to start afresh.

My life… now in in Pummelvision!

My Flickr photos in Pummelvision from Lindsey Moyse on Vimeo.

This is pretty cool. I got the idea from Pip.

Lots of babies, blue skies, New Zealand and Japan. HEAPS of food, family, plants… and my big fat pregnant belly. That sounds about right.

my 2c on the iPhone 4

Loooong time no blog. Sorry blog. I think of you often but… Life gets in the way.

This is a list-y type post about the new iPhone 4. I got my iPhone 3GS a couple of months ago and I do love it. I’m borderline obsessed with downloading apps, actually. So I’m intrigued by the new iPhone 4.

Here’s my 2c of what I think are the great new features and what I think are the not-so-exciting features. I’m not sure who will care about this except for me. But an update is an update, right??

Things I will be envious about:

  • Folders for apps (I have soooo many apps it is silly, so this would help)
  • Being able to run more than one app at a time LED flash (low light iphone photos are pretty crap)
  • Camera on the front for self portraits

Things I don’t really care about:

  • Video calls (I am guessing they’d use up quite a lot of valuable data? Though it would be nice to say hi to the nieces and nephews more often – they generally aren’t up for chatting just on a regular call)
  • Ibooks (I already use Stanza which I love)
  • Retina display (I’m sure it looks great but you can’t miss what you haven’t experienced, right?)
  • HD video recording and editing (I can’t think of anything more annoying than the idea of editing video on a mobile phone, ugh. I am just not that into video really!)

So it’s about even. In summary, I always feel annoyed when I buy a new piece of technology only for it to be superseded a short time later. But, that’s life innit?

Speaking of iPhones, here’s a pic I took using mine. It was the first blue sky after a long couple of weeks of constant rain – something we Sydneysiders are distinctly uncomfortable with!

Melbourne snaps

i went to Melbourne a couple of months back. it was a very quick visit, so here are a few quick snaps.

longing for autumn

um, hello. is someone amongst us sick of summer and longing for autumn? i think so.

mixed bag

what a mixed bag of a day. i had a good time at work; lots of laughs and some things clarified which always helps. i had two deliveries in the mail: a new 50mm lens for my camera, and some Etsy goodies. but then tonight my dear Tim had a car accident – just a small one! and he’s fine. but the car is somewhat damaged. sigh.
i’m also very tired due to lack of sleep due to noisy neighbours, and i have a lot going on in the next couple of weeks (as does everyone else, it’s December after all!). so i’m just a bit frazzled tonight.

anyway, here’s a snap i took with my new lens. loving it so far but really need to do some reading up on how to maximise its potential. i’m even thinking of doing a digital photography course. i’ve had my D80 for 1.5 years and i know i don’t even use half of its features. i know the principles of photography pretty well as i studied it for a while at uni, but that was all analogue! no digital whatsoever. so i think i need some new help. something to look forward to in 2010 perhaps!

i’m sorry, it is too hot today. just too hot. it’s nearly 9pm and it’s still 35c out there. ouch. so, summer, you’re almost here. i can see you! and feel you. and this means tall drinks with lots of ice. noisy birds waking me up in the morning. huge blue skies. colourful nights. embracing the coast. it will be great.
