a little while ago i did a fabric swap with the lovely Leslie of Good-ness. and it was indeed good. below is the amazing collection of fabric and bits and pieces that she sent me. awesome, yes? that French Clouds fabric in pink is like something straight from a dream.

and here is a bit of what i sent in return. the paisley and the hand printed fat quarter/panel are from Prints Charming. whose new premises is pretty overwhelmingly pretty!

if i was going to [get off my bum and finally] make cards, this would be the kind of thing i’d do. kinda general message, multi-purpose but very pretty cards that you can give to your mum for her birthday, or your friends when they move into their newly bought house, or maybe as a thank you for your wedding gifts.
what do you think?
this is the lovely mail i was referring to in this post. told you it was good! thank you Leslie
also, this is the dinner i made tonight for my friend Fi and i. bean burritos = good stuff. (you can’t see the actual tortillas. but they were there, i promise). aren’t the colours great? i love summer sometimes.

this was my second ever swap. i think.
there were other things in there too, but well, when i take photos before work i am not very comprehensive. also, surprises are a good thing!
thanks Deborah for instigating and organising <3

one of my most favourite things in the world is giving gifts. homemade gifts are even more fun in my opinion, and are usually well received. i don’t always have time available to make things though, but if that is the case then i try to make the wrapping as pretty as i can.
some gifts i have given (or am going to give) to loved ones lately include a heart-shaped cake mould, a matching tshirt and mini tote bag, a collection of girly pink and green things, and a big fat carrot cake with honey cream cheese icing.

this is what mood i am in:
this is due to four separate things:
1. books. this could also come under mail. today i received my very first ever Amazon order. i now have my very own copies of Amy Karol‘s Bend The Rules Sewing and the adorable Lotta Jansdotter‘s Simple Sewing. i am very excited about these two books in particular as they include patterns/projects. Christmas presents, here we come!
plus Tim is picking up The Essential It’s So Natural by Alan Hayes from the library for me, AS WE SPEAK… er, WRITE.
2. mail. i also received today a set of beautiful (and i mean it) photo cards by Megan of The Scent of Water. incidentally, Megan writes one of my favourite blogs. she is so refreshingly candid, i love it.
3. cake. last night Tim made an orange and poppyseed cake with some kind of awesome cream cheese icing. it was from a packet and used the dreaded wheat flour but i don’t care, it was just what i wanted. and there is (amazingly) enough left over from last night for dessert tonight! hooray.
4. tea. free Lipton green tea samples. that is all.
